Closed string staircases are a popular, timeless design where structural side boards fully enclose the steps. This conceals the tread and riser profiles, creating a clean, streamlined look with parallel borders. Highly cost-effective and structurally robust, they can be crafted in paint-grade softwood or premium oak for any property.

A cut string staircase is a premium UK design where the side structural timber is cut to follow the zigzag profile of the steps. This leaves the treads—and often the risers—fully visible from the side, creating a decorative, traditional, and elegant architectural feature that opens up any hallway.

An open riser staircase is a modern UK design where the vertical panels between steps are omitted, creating gaps between the treads. This allows natural light to flow through the flight, making hallways feel brighter, more spacious, and contemporary. For safety compliance, these openings are limited to less than 100mm.

A straight flight staircase is a linear set of stairs that runs directly from one floor to another without any turns, corners, or intermediate landings
